City of St. Albert & Sturgeon County hold meeting of Joint Intermunicipal Affairs Committee (IAC)
March 5, 2019
The City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County’s joint Intermunicipal Affairs Committee (IAC), consisting of all members of both municipal Councils, held a regularly scheduled meeting on February 27, 2019 to discuss matters of mutual interest.
At the meeting, the IAC amended the Joint Opportunity Task Force Workplan to expand the group’s discussions on the Sub-Regional Transportation Network. The IAC also received information reports on the status of Annexation and the Recreation Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework projects, and shared information regarding upcoming capital projects and transportation plans. The IAC will be completing a review of its Bylaw, which was created in 2007, with no significant review occurring since it was adopted. The two Councils met for dinner afterwards to get to know one another better.
This was the fourth meeting of the two Councils since the October 2017 municipal election.
“Sturgeon County is committed to regular dialogue with St. Albert as there are many fronts where sharing ideas and plans will benefit both municipalities,” says Sturgeon County Mayor Alanna Hnatiw.
“We value our relationship with Sturgeon County and the structured framework the IAC provides us for regular discussions,” says Mayor Cathy Heron.
The next IAC meeting is scheduled to take place in June 2019.
